How to Organize a Raclette or Fondue Night with Friends
A raclette night sounds simple: cheese, potatoes, friends. In practice, it's 'who's bringing what?', 'did anyone think of the pickles?', 'how do we split costs?' and 'whose place is it again?'. Here's how to skip the chaos and focus on what actually matters.
1. Lock In the Date and Venue Fast
Raclette nights often come together quickly — but you still need everyone free on the same evening. Send a quick date poll in the group to find the ideal slot. As for the venue: who has the most space and owns the raclette machine? That question gets settled in one line in the chat.
2. Build the Shopping List Together
Raclette for 8 people: plan on 200g of raclette cheese per person, small potatoes, mixed charcuterie (ham, coppa, dried beef), pickles and pickled onions, and optionally some sides (salad, bread). Share this list in the group so everyone knows what to bring.
3. Assign Who Brings What
Assigning items upfront prevents everyone bringing ham and nobody thinking of the pickles. In the Beement moment chat, simply assign: Alice → cheese, Ben → charcuterie, Clara → drinks, David → potatoes. Everyone sees their task, and automatic reminders prevent last-minute forgetfulness.
4. Handle the Costs Painlessly
Some will have spent €25 on cheese, others €12 on drinks. Rather than doing the math at the end of the night (the worst moment for it), log each expense in BeeCount as you go. In a few seconds, the app tells you who owes what to whom — and the evening ends without mental arithmetic.
5. The Details That Make the Difference
Check that the host has enough raclette machines (plan 1 for every 4 people), that there are enough plates and cutlery, and that there's a vegetarian option if needed. A reminder message the day before in Beement's chat covers all of this — and builds a little excitement before the evening.
A great raclette night is great organization plus great people. The rest — cheese, potatoes, good vibes — takes care of itself. Beement handles the logistics so you can focus on what actually matters.
